IPV closure

Jami Posted Mon 02nd of October, 2017 17:18:51 PM
The patients left lower extremity is examined under ultrasound guidance and the IPV was found above the ankle. The area was prepped and draped in the standard surgical fashion. Using 1% lidocaine plain the skin is anesthesized and a small incision is made. Then under ultrasound guidance the IPV probe is introduced into the IPV. The stilet was removed and the area was injected with tumescent solution in the amount of 60 ml. The area then is treated at 85 C for 8 minutes in two sections of 4 minutes each. The patient tolerated the procedure well and sterile dressings were applied. Can I code this with 36475 as a vein closure?

Yes, code 36475 should be appropriate for the above procedure. Also, please check the payer preference when going ahead with the billing. Thank you.
