IPPE/WTM Ancialliary Services

Diana Posted Wed 08th of September, 2010 02:27:58 AM

Good morning Experts!! :)
I get this question from our staff at a clinic. I am at Minnesota.

We (Registration, Lab and I) have the understanding that the ancillary services associated with the IPPE/WTM need to occur on the same date that the provider physically sees the patient for their Welcome to Medicare exam in order for it to qualify.

Example:

A patient is scheduled for their IPPE on September 30th; however, she wanted the lab work done prior to the appointment, so she came in on September 7th. She also has the DXA scheduled for September 18th.

Now I am finding conflicting information about this – some say all lab work must be completed the same day the IPPE/WTM is billed, others say that ancillary or laboratory tests are not required or even a part of the IPPE/WTM benefit?!

We told the patient that the components of the WTM/IPPE had to occur on the same dos in order to qualify…
Can any of you help me with this? I am not as familiar with clinic as Hospital, but any input will be greatly appreciated. I read the guide for IPPE but is is very extensice 236 pages so far I have not identified this topis within the guide perhaps I am missing something... any advice will be greatly appreciate!
