Intrathecal Stem Cell

Nicole Posted Mon 26th of November, 2018 16:12:44 PM
If the provider does an intrathecal stem cell injection with the use of umbilical cord tissue (UCT) and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), would this just be the 0232T code that is billed?

Hi Nicole,

0232T (Injection(s), platelet rich plasma, any site, including image guidance, harvesting and preparation when performed) would be the appropriate code for this procedure. Check with your payer policy before billing. Be aware that payers may deny this payment as it is a Category III code.
