intraperitoneal injection

Krisan Posted Fri 13th of March, 2015 23:04:09 PM

I can't find a code for laparoscopic intraperitoneal injection of bupivacaine. Patient has abdominal pain and adhesions. Any suggestions?
PROCEDURE PERFORMED:
1. Diagnostic laparoscopy with laparoscopic lysis of adhesions.
2. Intraperitoneal injection of bupivacaine.
Thank you.

As the intraperitoneal injection of bupivacaine performed for pain management, it will be considered included in the primary procedure i.e., laparoscopic lysis of adhesion. The appropriate CPT code would be 44180 for the given description.
