Instrumentation Removal & Replace

Nicole Posted Fri 03rd of March, 2017 11:57:30 AM
Doctor did Posterior Segmental Instrumentation and Fusion at T11 (22610), T12 (22614), L1 (22614). Performed a Laminectomy at the T11 (63046), T12 (63048), L1 (63048). performed a TLIF at the L2-3 (22633). Instrumentation was placed at T11, L1, L2, L3 (22842). My question is, the doctor removed and replaced a rod at the L3-L4 and removed and replaced a screw at the S1 level. (This was from a prior surgery the patient had). Since during this current surgery the doctor did not work on the levels that he removed and replaced the instrumentation at, can I bill for that? I am leaning towards the 22850 but not sure if it is billable?

Hi,

Cpt code 22850 will be appropriate for the above scenario.
