Injection exostosis midshaft of humerus

Susquehanna Valley Posted Thu 16th of July, 2015 14:41:41 PM

The patient is complaining of pain of a healed fracture.

Patient has an IM rod in her humerus. Xray reveals well healed fracture and prominent bony exostosis at fracture site .

The physician gives patient injection midshaft of humerus in the region of the exostosis.

What is the correct cpt code to use.

20610 is for joint or bursa. This is neither.

I don't believe 20550 and 20551 also do not classify as the correct codes either.

Whatever insight you can give for this will be greatly appreciated.

Please confirm with your physician whether he administered injection in humerus mid-shaft bone or around the bone. Also, check whether he inject in bone exostosis or in bone cyst, which occur after fracture healing.
