Patient was seen and had an injection. We coded 99214-25, 20610-59 and J1720. Patient returned on 7/27 as an emergency for severe swelling. The same knee had to be aspirated and injected again. How do we bill that in order to get paid?

You need to bill CPT 20610 again for DOS 7/27. Global day period of CPT 20610 is 0, so you can bill the code again for your emergency visit with complication of the procedure. The only case, it wont get paid, is that you performed the injection and patient returned on the very same day due to some problem.
