Help with codes for hysteroscopic resection of fibroid that was only partially resected and discontinued due to excess fluid. Because of the bleeding from partially resected fibroid decision was made to proceed with endometrial ablation. I wanted to bill 58561-53 and 58563-51 but will modifier -53 cut reimbursement in half? Or should I bill 58563 first? I don't want both codes to be discounted as insurance usually does.

Correct way to bill this type of procedures are bill 58561 with modifier 53 and bill 58563 with modifier 52 in order to indicate discontinued procedure and reduced service as well.

Hope this helps!
