incision/drainage and irragation/debridement knee

Nicole Posted Tue 21st of June, 2016 19:32:18 PM
The doctor did an incision and drainage of medial portal of knee. Then the shaver was introduced and a debridement was performed and subsequently a significant amount of irrigation was channeled through the joint. The medial portal, which was developed was opened and an irrigation and debridement was performed. The diagnosis is wound dehiscence of knee status post arthroscopy. Would the CPT code 10180 be the only code or should something be billed for the debridement too?

Thanks for your question. Please report the following codes: 1) Code for Incision and Drainage i.e. 10180. 2) Code for Debridement i.e. 11042 etc. depending upon size and depth. Please feel free to write to us if you have any concern or query. Thanks.
