When a patient has history of STDs what ICD can be coded. Can we bill Z72.51

Hello Apurva,

Thank you for your question.

STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) is an infection transmitted through sexual contact, caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites. More appropriate code for history of STD’s will be Z86.19 (Personal history of other infectious and parasitic diseases).

Hope that helps!
