ICD10 arthritis

Mike Posted Tue 02nd of February, 2016 18:58:37 PM

provider just states bilateral arthritis in knees. Would it be correct coding M17.0?

Here your provider does not state that the arthritis is primary(degenerative) or secondary.Osteoarthritis is the same as arthritis as it is inflammation of the joints of the bones. M17.0 is the code for bilateral knee osteoarthritis, found by looking up main term osteoarthritis, subterm knee bilateral, which is verified in the tabular list as bilateral primary osteoarthritis of knee.
