ICD-10 for Hematoma

Blackhorse Posted Wed 07th of August, 2019 16:28:24 PM
Patient slip and fall, MRI shows a large intramuscular hematoma in the deltoid extending over to the pectoralis major. Doctor's diagnosis is post-traumatic intramuscular hematoma. The plan is to observe. Hopefully it will reabsorb over time. What is the diagnosis for the hematoma?

Hi Blackhorse,

Contusion specific ICD 10 CM codes are taken for post traumatic Hematoma. Appropriate ICD 10 CM codes would be:

  • S40.011 (Right Shoulder)
  • S40.012 (Left Shoulder)
  • S40.019 (Unspecified Shoulder)
  • S20.20XA (Initial Encounter)
