icd 10 for coding complex closure due to excision

my supervisor is telling me i should not be using open wound codes for this,,she states I should be using the excision code,, I have always coded my complex closure and ADJ transfer with open wound codes,,. now she has me 2nd guessing myself

In regards with CPT, I am sharing some general information which might be useful: Simple wound repairs may not be reported separately, as they are included in the surgical package of the excision. However, for excisions requiring a complex closure, one can code either an intermediate or complex repair, along with the excision. You should use wound repair codes only when the doctor closes a wound using staples or sutures.
