ICD-10 Code for Breast Complication

Kirsten Posted Fri 30th of October, 2015 11:08:04 AM

The patient had a breast implant taken out due to rupture. We used the appropriate "T" code for that. 2 weeks after that surgery, the patient complains of breast tightness and a post operative hematoma was diagnosed. The hematoma was not due to the implant, so I cannot use a "T" code for the diagnosis. What is the correct diagnosis for post operative hematoma of the breast? I can find post operative hematoma for most every part of the body except for breast. I looked at L76.22, but that is not the appropriate code to use for this diagnosis. Please help. Thanks!

Thanks for your question.

You can use ICD-10 code N64.89 for this scenario.
