Hysterectomy code ?

Lynn Posted Tue 19th of January, 2016 07:14:46 AM

Urology performed 51595, 53210 and our doc performed
Radical hysterectomy, anterior vaginectomy with vaginal reconstruction. Nothing was done with the pelvic lymph nodes by Ob/Gyn doc.
Which cpt should I use to code our portion?

SuperCoder Answered Wed 20th of January, 2016 03:21:43 AM

Depending upon documentation, ob/gyn doc. should bill 58210 with modifier 52 as procedure is partially reduced.

Lynn Posted Wed 20th of January, 2016 07:00:49 AM

what should we do about the fact 58210 is bundled with the urology doc codes?

SuperCoder Answered Thu 21st of January, 2016 03:10:01 AM

Since CPT code 58210 is bundled with urology code 51595. Append modifier 59 ( Distinct Procedural Service ) with CPT code 58210 to rule out bundling.
