How would you code flexible sigmoidoscopy with methylene blue irrigation?

Anna-Marie Posted Sat 25th of April, 2015 15:20:49 PM

A flexible sigmoidoscopy with methylene blue irrigation was done to rule out out a colo-vesical fistula. Is this simply coded as 45330? And what ICD 9 code would you use to indicate suspected colo-vesical fistula - patient symptoms or any specific diagnostic code?

45330 seems appropriate for flexible sigmoidoscopy. For suspected condition ICDs cannot be given, however patient's symptoms and other related diagnostic conditions can be coded.
