How often can you change your fee schedule ?

Sandra Posted Tue 03rd of April, 2012 20:01:06 PM

I was wondering if there is a source that is a guideline for how often you can/should change your fee schedule.

We are normally very conservative when we change our fees and we changed ours in February before we knew that medicare was increasing the 2012 wRVUs for preventative care. So our fees are below the norm for this year.

I was wondering if there is a rule/law for this.

Hi Sandra, thank you for your question! There is no standard regulation for this, but the American Medical Association advises updating it every three to 12 months. The source is an article that the AMA wrote, you can find it here: http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2009/05/04/bisa0504.htm. Thanks!
