I work at a gastroenterology practice. We saw a pt who has Medicare at our office & then later the same day the pt was admitted to a local hospital & we the dr did an H&P. Can we bill the office visit & for a consult on the same day?

Thanks for your question. You should combine the services and bill the hospital visit with the appropriate inpatient code based on the key components from the documentation. You will receive a denial from Medicare if you bill both services. See the Medicare Claims Processing Manual provided in following link for more information. Hope this helps.
