If a patient is seen in the hospital beginning on one date and the service continues on to the next calendar day, CC, example. What date would you enter, example Seen on 11/16 at 2155 and service in Critical Care ends on 11/17 after midnight, would you enter 11/16 or 11/17 for the DOS? Thank you Teresa

Hi,

Since Critical care is a time based code, the correct billing according to the given scenario will be depending upon the units starting on the 11/16 at 2155 :

11/16 : 99291 x1 and  99292 x2 and so on. S

Also, the correct date of service will be the date of commencement of the services (except critical care if reported for less than 30 minutes eg. patient given critical care starting from 23.55 on 11/16 will not be reported separately for 11/16).

Hope this helps!
