Hopsital charges in a global peroid

Melisa Posted Thu 17th of March, 2011 21:17:25 PM

We are a GYN-ONC office and we do perform the patient's surgery as well as being their oncolgist. The question that I have is when we perform a surgery then see the patient in the hopital but we are now treating for hypertension or diabetes can I bill for this with the modifier 24?

If the visit is during the postop global period, then we should bill the e/m code with modifier 24, even though the visit is for a different reason.

I agree with Sanjit, that is how we bill them also.
