History of Polyps

Susan Posted Wed 07th of August, 2019 11:50:06 AM
Patient had a Screening colonoscopy in July of 2009 and polyps were found. Can this patient be scheduled as a screening since it has been 10 years since last screening? Does the fact that he has had Hx of polyps 10 years ago have an effect on how procedure will be scheduled

Hi Susan,

Thanks for your question. This patient should still be scheduled as a screening regardless of the patient’s history.  The patient currently has no symptoms and as long as the colonoscopy remains screening, it should be billed as a screening colonoscopy with a history of polyps.
