What is a good code for a removal of heterotopic ossification in the anterior capsule.?

Well, from a CPT coding perspective, currently no specific code within the CPT code set describes a removal of hip heterotopic ossification. Therefore, unlisted code 27299, Unlisted procedure, pelvis or hip joint, should be reported. When reporting an unlisted code to describe a procedure or service, it will be necessary to submit supporting documentation (eg, the procedure report) along with the claim to provide an adequate description of the nature, extent, need for the procedure, and the time, effort, and equipment necessary to provide the service. Hope it helps!
