hidradenitis Suppurative

Denise Posted Mon 18th of March, 2019 17:41:30 PM
I am somewhat new to billing and my surgeon did the following "Wide excisions of hidradenitis suppurative, excision lymphatic stasis mons pubis, abdominal flap advancement, mons pubis as well as labia majora" With much studying it looks like a 11471 with dx L73.2. 15570 dx L90.5. Can you please confirm or direct me to correct cpt and dx. Thank you!

Hi Denise,

Thanks for your question

Provided documentation is not enough to code it properly. So, based on this documentation, the codes suggested by you are correct. But there is CCI edit between codes 11471 and 15570. So, modifier should be appended to code 11471 if medical necessity is fulfilled. Moreover, for lymph nodes excision, you may report code from 38500 series.

We hope this answers your question, otherwise we would request you to provide more information.
