Hemilaminotomy for removal of epidural mass

Caralee Posted Mon 25th of June, 2012 15:33:57 PM

The surgeon only removed the right L1 lamina to remove the epidural mass that was attached to the dura and nerve root. Would I still use the code 63272?

Yes. 63272 for removal of a lumbar lesion, not a "neoplasm". If the "mass" has been mentioned as a tumor/neoplasm, and if the location is extramedullary, then code 63282.
