Healed Pressure Ulcer

Kathy Posted Wed 01st of June, 2011 19:39:25 PM

I have a pt whom all ulcers have healed. He has been discharged from clinic. How should I code his final note?

Impression reads as follows:
1. L greater trochanteric ulcer (healed)

I need to know what to apply to indicate the ulcer has been healed.

You can code V67.59 for "Following other treatment". If the patient has been treated with high risk medication for ulcer, and now healed, then you can code V67.51 for "Following completed treatment with high-risk medications, not elsewhere classified"

Do I delete the orignal pressure ulcer codes and code just V67.59? If not, in what order should the codes go? They were, prior to healing, 707.05; 707.21.

V67 category codes are preferred to be placed as secondary diagnosis. So, you can put Primary ICDs for ulcer.
