HCPCS code for long-term use of Nubeqa, Xtandi, or Zytiga

Karen Posted Wed 15th of January, 2020 15:53:00 PM
What is the correct Z-code for long-term (current) use of Nubeqa, Xtandi, or Zytiga? I have been using Z79.818 for use of Lupron, but I'm not certain if that is correct for these newer drugs.

Hi Karen,

Lupron is an agent affects the estrogen receptors, for which ICD Z79.818 is correct to use.

NUBEQA (darolutamide) and Xtandi (enzalutamide) are androgen receptor inhibitor, ZYTIGA (abiraterone acetate) also an androgen biosynthesis inhibitor.

There is no such defined androgen inhibitors long term use code available as of now. So, ICD-10 code Z79.899 (Other long term (current) drug therapy) is appropriate to use for these drugs.

Hope this helps!
