Hallux Varus

L Posted Tue 27th of September, 2016 06:40:52 AM
Good morning! I'm having trouble with this code set - how would I code: DIAGNOSIS: Hallux varus, right foot, second MTP DJD with varus angular deformity and PIP second toe joint nonunion. PROCEDURE: 1.First toe MTP fusion, right. 2.Metatarsal head resection and arthroplasty, right. 3.PIP fusion, second toe, right. 4.Capsular release, second MTP joint. I have 28750 and 28285 but I'm not sure what else I need. Thanks!!

The diagnosis codes for the above mentioned conditions will be M20.31 for Hallux varus, M19.071 for DJD, M21.271 for varus angular deformity, and s92.411K for nonunion. Cpt codes 28750 and 28285 are correct. However, you need to add one more code for Metatarsal head resection and arthroplasty and for that code range will be 28111-28114 depending upon the documentation as to which metatarsal head is resected. Thank You.
