H54.7 diagnosis

Hattiesburg Posted Thu 17th of November, 2016 11:10:22 AM
H54.7 is unacceptable for inpatient admissions as a primary daignosis but what about non-facility use? Can it be used as a primary diagnosis in the non-hospital setting?

H54.7 is an unacceptable principal diagnosis code in general. There are some diagnosis codes which are unacceptable as a principal diagnosis as they do not describe a current illness, injury, or a specific symptom but the code describes a condtion that maybe due to an underlying cause. Hope this helps!! Thanks.
