Can the same patient be seen same day, same group by Psychiatrist then follow up with Clinical Phychologist for psychotherapy?

SuperCoder Answered Fri 14th of August, 2015 04:00:00 AM

Well, yes, if the patient's psychotherapy session is already fixed and the patient take the psychology session on the same day- it can be billed, but make sure to justify the medical necessity. Hope it helps!

Confused. I was told patient can't be seen for therapy after seen by Psychiatrist, same day as Clinical Psychologist both providers in the same group.

Yes, you are right. It cannot be seen for therapy on same day of consultation. But, as described earlier- when psychotherapy session is fixed already (fixed from past dates) and patient seen by psychiatrist on that day due to patient's condition, then it can be billed on same day. Otherwise, cannot be billed on same day. Hope it helps!
