granulation tissue

Becky Posted Wed 17th of February, 2016 07:40:06 AM

Our docs performed excision of granulation tissue, perineorrhaphy under anesthesia 2 months post partum non healking perineal wound.
What code would you use for this ?

There is no specific CPT code for excision of granulation tissue. You need to report unlisted code 58999.

Also, please check you documentation to confirm that perineorrhaphy was not performed in conjugation with Posterior colporrhaphy. If Posterior colporrhaphy was also performed, then you cannot bill perineorrhaphy, Anterior and posterior colporrhaphy separately with separate codes. There is a combined code for these procedure, i.e. 57260 and 57250 for posterior colporrhaphy.
