If doctor encounters some complication during cesarean delivery like peritoneal adhesion because of a previous cesarean and has to do adhesiolysis , can we bill for adhesiolysis separate or is it gonna be included in global code of 59510 and we could just add modifier 22 to it to show extra work Thanks Sid

Lysis of peritoneal adhesions is not generally paid by the insurance companies. They consider it included in the services of the major surgical code. It would be advised to bill the CPT code with 22 modifier for increases procedural services. 22 modifier will let the insurance company know that extra time and effort than usual, was taken to perform the procedure.
