Gi coding ICD 10 - second opinion

Thomas Posted Wed 14th of October, 2015 12:55:41 PM

Thank you for your recent reply regarding proper coding, however does it matter if I code the first diagnosis code R10.13 and second diagnosis code C16.0? You listed the reverse order & didn't know if it made any difference in the order. Thank you!

C16.0 is definite deiagnois and R10.13. As per guidelines, diagnosis should be coded first followed by symptoms. Whereas, R10.13 is epigastric pain may be because of malignancy of cardia. Hence, it is better way to code.
