general billing question

Thomas Posted Thu 29th of August, 2013 09:33:14 AM

Can I bill diagnostic testing services if Doctor has not dictated/turned his billing in. We are running into file limits with some companies because for whatever reason he wont turn his billing in for 5-6 months. I cannot get my doctor to change. There is general proof from the tech on the route slip. My concern is not having the dictaion in the chart in case of an audit.

No you cannot bill out the diagnostic testing services if he has not turned in his dictation and billing. You must have dictation in the chart for both billing and audit compliance. Remember, if it isn't documented? It didn't happen.
