Gastrostomy Tube Diagnosis

Mercy Posted Tue 05th of April, 2011 15:39:08 PM

If this is a duplicate, I apologize. We have a patient that his gastromy tube fell out. Not sure how. It was replaced thru the existing track. Procedure code 43760.

My question is.... should I use Dx. of V55.1 and if yes, is there an E-code I should put with it. Not sure what E-code.

Thank you

Where are you getting that information from? Just because it is pulled out does not mean there is a mechanical complication of the tube. Under V55.1 it states or removal or replacment of catheter.

It is not mechanical complication. Had it been mechanical complication you would code 536.42
It is "Other gastrostomy complications ", so 536.49
