Gastroenterology - Oklahoma

Thomas Posted Sun 05th of July, 2015 20:57:52 PM

Patient was admitted to hospital and during his stay had an
EGD with BiCAP ablation of bleeding ulcer and biopsies.
I coded insurance claim as 43255-59 and 43239 as second CPT code.
Would this be the correct order in which to code with 59 modifier.

YES, RVU of CPT 43255 is greater than RVU of 43239. Also, CPT 43255 is a column 2 code for 43239 , but a modifier is allowed in order to differentiate between the services provided. Append modifier -59 on CPT 43255. Order would be: Line 1: CPT 43255-59 X 1 unit.
Line 2: CPT 43239 X 1 unit.
