GA modifier clarification

Marla Posted Wed 18th of March, 2015 16:39:20 PM

"Should you attach a GA modifier to an audiogram and tympanogram for a Medicare patient or does that modifier only get attached to a code if you anticipate the code to be a non-covered service?'

The provider can append GA modifier for performing audiogram and tympanogram. The intent of the ABN is to inform the patient that Medicare certainly or most probably will not pay for an item or service and will assign financial responsibility to the patient for the charges.
