Can HCPCS Code G2023 be billed to Non Medicare insurances
SuperCoder Answered Thu 04th of June, 2020 06:28:20 AM

Thank you for your Question!

HCPCS code G2023 is not a Medicare payment specific code and it is billable via other insurances too. Multiple commercial payers have also announced their intention to follow CMS guidelines with regards to the reimbursement rate for these Covid-19 codes.

The appropriate code to be reported is dependent upon the payer to which the claim is being submitted. If the claim is submitted to a payer that requires CPT codes, then appropriate CPT code should be reported. Conversely, if the payer requires the use of the HCPCS Level II code, the HCPCS Level II code should be reported.

Kindly, contact with your payer directly to determine their specific reporting guidelines.

Hope that Helps!
