Fluorescein Exam

Patricia Posted Fri 24th of February, 2012 04:39:45 AM

Please refresh my memory, in regards to the Fluorescein Exam. I feel I have read where this is now allowed and I need the code for the procedure and diagnosis.

Thanks for your help,
Patricia

Hi Patricia,

This is a test that uses orange dye (fluorescein) and a blue light to detect foreign bodies in the eye. This test can also detect damage to the cornea, the outer surface of the eye.
For this, you could code 92230,92235, 92287 based upon the documentation. For Dx, there are many codes in this range such as ( 190.5, 224.5, 224.6, 228.03, 362.53, 362.54, 362.56, 363.70, 377.22, and 377.23), you could choose based upon documentation.
