flu vaccine (weekend clinics)

Jan Posted Thu 09th of September, 2010 03:48:29 AM

If we are not usually open on in the evenings or on the weekends and we have decided to open our doors for several saturday/evenings during the fall for flu/sick clincs should we charge an after hours code '99050'

If you post the hours to advertise those clinics, then you are technically open. You could instead use 99051.

You may want to check with your major insurers on their interpretation. The posted hours is from the initial CPT changing of the special services codes. What the sign indicates defines the regularly scheduled office hours.

Some insurers have an broader universal time definition and consider hours outside 9-5 even if the office regularly remains open later than that time to be outside regularly scheduled hours. So best to check your major payers' interpretation.
