Flex Sigmoidoscopy

Renee Posted Thu 15th of September, 2011 13:09:19 PM

My doc performed a fle sig and found a 30cm fistula. Fistula was filled with fibrin. Attempted closure with clips but they malfunctioned. A band ligator was then used. On 3rd attempt he was able to get enough tissue to entrap the ligator. What code do I bill?

I think you can report 45330 (for Flex. Sig.) for diagnostic purpose, and 46706 for using fibrin to seal the fistula. Is there any mention of an attempt top stop any bleeding from lesion using Sigmoidoscope-ligator? If yes, then you can use only 45334.
