Feriltiy testing

Tammy Posted Mon 26th of October, 2015 11:52:22 AM

Patient came in and had baby in 2013 but has been unable to get pregnant a second time. Patient doesn't have irregular menses or any other problems. We ordered an HSG and used dx V26.21. The insurance is denying as infertility. Is this correct? Is there another diagnosis we should be using?

Hi Laura,

I can understand you concern. Coding part is correct. ICD code V26.21 that you used is good with HSG.
Some of the insurances do not cover infertility and they do not reimburse for it, so please clear with your provider/insurance that are they covering infertility testing?
