failed IUD removal

After 6 attempts to remove an IUD doctor was not able to grasp the strings. Do I bill 58301-52 since it wasn't removed? Seems to me there was actually a lot more work involved.

Hi, CPT code 58301 is appropriate code for the above mentioned procedure. Also, modifier 52 is to be appended. Report this modifier when the procedure was discontinued after the patient was prepared and brought to the room where the procedure was to be performed.
