Exploration Plantar Aspect Foot

Nicole Posted Thu 05th of July, 2018 16:18:56 PM
Patient had surgery scheduled and all that was done was an exploration of the plantar aspect of the right foot. Is there a code for this or would it just be the unlisted code? Doctor was looking for foreign body but nothing was found and all tissue appeared normal.

Hi Nicole,

As per documentation, unlisted code better suits the scenario, however, you should include a cover letter stating why you are using the unlisted procedure code. This separate report should explain, in simple, straightforward language, exactly what the physician did.
