op note reads ..i excised around the granulation tissue and used scissors to cut down to the trachea, i did not enter the trachea. i could palpate to the tracheal wall. no air leakage or secretions. after excising the tissue i bipolar cauterized a couple spots , and left wound open to heal by 2ndary intent. Dr wants to code 31825..i disagree but at a loss for a code for excision of granulation tissue thank you in advance for your help

As per documentation provided, code 31899, Unlisted procedure, trachea, bronchi should be appropriate as there is no specific code for excision of granulation tissue. Please check your payer preference as well before going ahead with the billing. Thank you.
