Excision Granulation Tissue

Nicole Posted Tue 17th of January, 2017 16:07:05 PM
The doctor excised granulation tissue on the anterior-lip of the cervix. Is there a code for this, or would I have to use the Unlisted Procedure code 55899?

As such there is no specific CPT code for excision of granulation tissue on the anterior-lip of the cervix, so the appropriate code for this would be 58999 (Unlisted procedure, female genital system (nonobstetrical)).

Per your suggested CPT code 55899, it is representing unlisted procedure, male genital system; however, it is related to cervix, which is a part of female genital system.

Thank you!
