The neurosurgeon perform a sublabial, rhinoseptal and transphenoidal evacuation of pituitary (sellar/suprasellar) hematoma in the post-operative period, due to pituitary adenoma removal two days before this surgery. What is the CPT code for this procedure? I think that is unlisted procedure because not existing a code that describes this procedure and it was not via craniotomy. Let me know Thanks!

The sublabial incision was re-opened. The packing materials identified and removed until the sellar floor was reached. Blood clot under tension removed and all available blood. Small CSF leak noted and the intrasellar area was packed with Floseal and Duragen. The sellar floor was reconstructed with cartilage from the nasal septum and and fibrin glue. The exanterated sphenoid sinus was packed with the same abdominal fat that was removed at the beginning and The sphenoid sinus area was closed with Vicryl.

As per documentation there is no specific code for above mentioned procedure, hence the appropriate code would be unlisted code. When submitting the claim also attach the copy of operartive report with the bill to avoid denial and deduction in payment.
