Epidural Hematoma

Nicole Posted Fri 14th of July, 2017 09:22:37 AM
Previous surgery History: Thoracolumbar Fusion Diagnosis: Epidural Hematoma Procedure Performed: Patient had wound re-opening and evacuation of hematoma along with wound re-closure and drain placement. Would this be 22010 / 22015 depending on location? (I have to ask the doctor, since it was not dictated where)

Or could the procedure codes possibly be: 22830 / 10140?

As per the presented documentation, appropriate CPT codes would be 22830 and 10140.

If the prior surgical procedure performed is within the global period then, append modifier-78 with CPT code 10140.

If the prior surgery performed is outside the global package, then only bill 10140 (without any modifier) along with CPT code 22830.
