Epicardial lead placement 33202

Dawn C Posted Fri 03rd of June, 2016 15:52:56 PM
My provider placed 6 leads in open procedure. 33202 Insertion of epicardial electrode(s) We next turned our attention to placing the pacing leads, and we in total placed 6 leads to the heart, 2 on the atrium, 2 on the right ventricle, and 2 on the left ventricle, which we then ultimately connected to a pacemaker box. Since the code states electrodes I would only code 33202 1 time? Is this correct?

Hi, As per the information provided by you the code 33202 seems correct for nsertion of epicardial electrode(s); open incision (eg, thoracotomy, median sternotomy, subxiphoid approach) and it should be reported once. Thanks
