Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

Dawn Posted Wed 11th of May, 2016 13:17:40 PM
We have a case: A)Node, 5'clock, endoscopic mucosal resection: Gastroesophageal junction type mucosa with extensive intestinal metaplasia (Barrett's mucosa). No dysplasia is identified. No invasive tumor is identified. B)Node, proximal 5 o'clock, endoscopic mucosal resection: Gastroesophageal junction type mucosa with focal intestinal metaplasia (Barrett's mucosa) and chronic inflammation. No dysplasia is identified. No invasive tumor is identified. Would this be procedure code 88309 x 2? If not, what would it be and why? thank you.

Hi, Please clarify the question as you need cpt code for above mentioned endoscopic mucosal resection procedure or pathology code for endoscopic mucosal resection procedure performed.

Hi, Pathology Code 88309 X 2 seems more appropriate for the above mentioned scenario.
