Endoscopic Exam w/ Suture Ligation of Bleeder

Nicole Posted Mon 07th of March, 2016 11:35:32 AM

The patient had a procedure for ligation of hemorrhoids. The patient is now experiencing passing of blood and some clots.

The doctor performed an Anoscope and found the bleeding. A suture was inserted into the base of the hemorrhoid that was ligated, which controlled the bleeding.

What would be the appropriate code for the suture ligation of bleeder?

I have the CPT code for the Anoscopy: 46600
Would the ligation be the 46945 (even though the hemroidectomy was not done?)

The most appropriate code for the above mentioned condition seems to be 44614. Please check your documentation before billing.

The CPT suggested 44614 is not a valid code. Can you please confirm the code that was suggested.

The correct code is 46614.
I hope this will be helpful.
